Badlands National ParkWe spent a good part of two days in Badlands Nat'l Park, including a sunset and a beautiful sunrise.

South DakotaVROOOM...VROOOM. Although they definitely made our Black Hills visit more interesting, we were happy to leave behind the hoards of bikers that are EVERYWHERE during the Sturgis Bike Week.

Iowa and NebraskaIowa and Nebraska both grow corn, although oddly Iowa produces much more of the stuff than the "Cornhusker" state.
RAGBRAIWith over 10,000 riders annually, Registers Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa is the oldest and largest cross state bicycle ride in the country. In the words of Dick Vitale, IT'S AWESOME BABY!

Nebraska US Rte 20Route 20 runs along the northern part of Nebraska and goes through lots of pretty country, including the Sandhills, which at nearly 20,000 square miles is the third largest area of sand in the world behind the Sahara and Arabian deserts.

Baxter State Park in Central MaineOur stay in Baxter State Park was a mixed bag. Unfortunately, Amy got to sit around and read a lot while Josh went out on some tougher hikes. But our hike together to Chimney Pond and Josh's hike to Baxter Peak were definite highlights of the trip so far. (You like how I switch from first to third person there? :) )

Coastal MaineWe'd heard a lot about how beautiful coastal Maine is. It is beautiful, even when it's foggy, but not quite when it's rainy.

Rhode IslandAfter a relatively uneventful trip through Connecticut, we stayed for two nights in Newport, Rhode Island with our couchsurfing friend Jenny. Thanks for hosting us Jenny!
